Kasey Shoemaker has created a world of horror and fantasy that will captivate and thrill the reader. The character development is such that one finds themself rooting for the main character Gabrielle Gayle but still fasinated by the intense evil of the antagonist character of Cedric. Their battle is ancient struggle for survival that will appeal to the animal nature that is burried deep in us all.

A mixture of urban fantasy and family mystery. The worlds of witches and werewolves combine after a generation of separation. As the heroine learns more about her past and present, she must find a way to protect those she loves from desperate danger. I loved the story, loved the heroes and villians and the winter urban setting.
A very enjoyable quick read. Mystical and magical. You find yourself rooting for Gabrielle to win the fight against evil, yet wonder exactly how she will accomplish it. It leaves you guessing and wondering what will happen in the next book. If you enjoy witches and magic, you will really like this book.
From the initial family turmoil, to the complex reality of adult Gabrielle Gayle's life, Silver Vengeance is a story of coping with the hidden horrors of what you are and the reality that lies beneath the urban sameness we live in. It is a story of awakening for Gaby as she answers questions she has suppressed her entire life. Were-Witches (a chilling combination), boyfriends, family turmoil, and mother/daughter/sister issues all wrapped around the questions, "who am I? and what have I become?"

Urban Fantasy is becoming a more accepted mainstream genre. Kasey has a knack for juxtaposing gore and normalcy so that the mind is constantly asking more questions than the book answers...leaving the reader wanting more. She doesn't waste words but instead gives the reader the chance to work with the story and paint pictures along with her. Reading about extraordinary circumstances in ordinary settings, I was left wondering what it is I miss in daily life that Gaby and other characters are forced to deal with every day.

Kasey introduces the reader to a new character and a new paradigm in urban fantasy. When I was finally able, through no fault of the book, devote the time to reading this, I was deeply appreciative of the depth of her characters, the richness of her setting and its bloodthirsty under current marks this book as something special to read and look for more of. I heartily recommend it
If you’re looking for something completely different in the paranormal world, or urban fantasy, for that matter, then look no further than Kasey Shoemaker’s enticing novel, Silver Vengeance. Filled with mystery and mayhem, readers are introduced to Gabrielle Gayle, a kick-butt heroine who must seek the truth about her own heritage in order to survive a deadly game of cat and mouse.

The characterization within this novel is a wonderful testament to Shoemaker’s writing capabilities. All the characters, both good and evil, are exceptionally real, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them as the novel unfolded. Nick reminds me very much of Dean Winchester from Supernatural, out to take down those who shouldn’t exist, and as Gabrielle and her family team up with him to fight against the were-witches, a coven/pack dead set on ripping apart the Gayle family, sparks and blood fly.

I really enjoyed the combination of werewolves with witches, an ingenious idea that has me wondering what other hybrid concoctions would produce in the paranormal world... being a lover of all things strange, I find it absolutely fascinating, and I loved how Shoemaker brought the two together, creating a unique backdrop to this awesome story. All around, this novel is a ton of fun, and if you’re a fan of Supernatural or Grimm, then I highly suggest you check it out.
This can't-put-it-down tale of magic and mystery will have you turning pages as fast as you can. The plot grabs you from page one and draws you into the story of Gabrielle Gayle and her sister as they fight for their lives against other-worldly creatures. The characters are memorable and the pacing of the story is damn near perfect. Scary, bloody, thrilling and fascinating, this is a first-rate urban fantasy. Highly recommended.
Silver Vengeance was my first step into the shadowy world of urban fantasy. Kasey Shoemaker conjures a compelling world populated by characters both cloaked in mystery and as familiar as the girl next door. I found myself engulfed by this world as the story unfolded and drew me in. Shoemaker's descriptive style created for me a movie in my mind, as if I were watching the action itself rather than just the printed page. I paced myself to linger in this world as long as possible, soaking it all in. A unique story, superbly told with a balance of suspense, violence and lightheartedness. Sure to please.
This book was fun to read and the fact that it takes place in New Haven Ct, was a bonus as I live in Ct and also a chef, You will enjoy this, a great summer read!!!
